| Abstract | The papers in this special section focus on advanced techniques and applications using guided lightwaves for sensors and measurment systems. It was organized by the Photonic Technology in Instrumentation and Measurement Technical Committee (TC-42) of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society. It is the 3rd special issue on the same topic following the previous two successful ones (2017 and 2019). The aim of this special issue is to bring together contributions from leading experts in the related fields, highlight the state-of-the-art guided lightwave concepts and effects, advanced devices and systems, meaningful technologies and applications in sensors, instrumentation and measurement. The special issue includes both comprehensive review articles and original technical contributions covering the rapid advancement of guided lightwaves in the applications to instrumentation and measurement. |
