| Abstract | The NRC CT-133 research jet has been installed with a wing glove on the mid-span of the port wing. The wing glove has been installed with pressure transducers, for the measurement of unsteady surface pressures. In flight test, the wing glove has been applied to low-speed stalling and high-speed Mach buffet manoeuvres. The wing glove has been applied to the measurement of unsteady lifting loads during wake vortex encounters (WVE), and appeared to faithfully represent surface flow conditions representative of the loading state experienced by the overall aircraft. In particular local Mach Number on the glove achieved 1.4, without the occurrence of significant shock-induced boundary layer separation (nor, buffet by the overall aircraft), evidential of an increase in the lifting capability of a wing section, under the energizing effect of wake vortex interaction with the wing boundary layer. |
