Abstract | In this paper, laser-ultrasonic measurements of ultrasonic attenuation at temperatures of up to 1200°C are presented. A calibration based on the metallographic evaluation of the austenite grain sizes by quenching samples was obtained to relate quantitatively ultrasonic attenuation to austenite grain sizes. This calibration was used to measure austenite grain growth at temperatures of up to 1200°C in A36, drawing quality special killed (DQSK), and IF steels. |
