| Abstract | In the study of the thermal performance of the exterior walls of buildings under winter conditions, certain assumptions have been made to permit the application of simple theory based on uni-directional heat flow perpendicular to the wall. This has resulted in an approach to wall analysis from an overall average point of view, conditions being assumed to be uniform in the plane of the wall. Little attention has been given to departures from these uniform conditions resulting from the influence of convective heat transfer in walls with air spaces. |
