Abstract | Laser welding applications are steadily increasing over recent years in different industries specifically in the automotive and transportation sectors. To increase the productivity of a laser welding cell, a multi-partner collaboration project has been defined inside the METALTec industrial R&D group with more than 25 members and partner from industries, universities and research centers. The establishment and advances of this project are owed to noticeable collaborations and contributions of several women namely: Mélissa Després as program leader, Marie Christine Gagnon as METALTec project manager, Julie Menier as project manager, Marie-Frédérique Biron as strategic contracts advisor, Fatemeh Mirakhorli as research officer/ laser welding specialist, Myriam Poliquin and Geneviève Simard as technical officers and Lorraine Blais as industrial partner. It’s worth mentioning that the development of such a project is in collaboration with many male colleagues e.g. Francois Nadeau as the Advanced Manufacturing trust leader, David Prud’homme as the client relationship leader and the members and partners that contribute financially and technically in this project. The main objective of this project will be developing an intelligent laser welding cell toward Industry 4.0 using multi-sensor monitoring and in-line ultrasonic laser inspection systems with machine learning methods. |
