Abstract | Pure Ti and Ti6A14V powders were cold sprayed on steel coupons with preheated nitrogen at 800°C as propellant gas at 40 bar. Powder feeding rate and stand-off distance were optimized to have maximum particle velocity. Effect of gun traverse speed on both coating characteristics as well as bonding strength was then investigated. It was found that decreasing gun traverse speed led in decreasing porosity level but decreasing bonding strength of the Ti6Al4V deposit. In this regard, the differences between the pure Ti and Ti6Al4V alloy are discussed. |
