| Abstract | The response of the C.P.F. ship to regular long-crested waves has been calculated using WAMIT. Deep-departure and operational-light loading conditions were studied. For each loading condition, the ship wetted surface was discretized into 982 quadrilateral panels. The corresponding hydrostatic coefficients, added-mass and damping coefficients, wave exciting forces and moments and the response amplitude operators (RAOs), in six degrees of freedom, were computed using 16 wave frequencies, 7 ship headings and zero forward speed. The wavelengths ranged between 3.7 to 0.5 times the ship length (LBP). Results of the computations are presented in a standard WAMIT tabular format. Plots for the exciting forces and the corresponding ship motions are also included. In addition, all related input and out files to WAMIT are included in the appendices and on a floppy disk. |
