Abstract | Natural waxes are very complex mixtures and for this reason analysis was originally limited to determination of acid, ester and a few other values. Later, examination of hydrolysis products showed that Japan wax was a triglyceride wax and that sugar cane wax contained a large proportion of polyaldehydes . Quite recently a number of waxes have been analyzed by gas liquid and column chromatography without preliminary hydrolysis. This review will discuss the results of analysis of beeswax and carnauba, sugar cane, ouricuri, candelilla and Japan waxes. |
