| Résumé | This paper exposes methodologies and results obtained in a morphing wing application that was developed starting from a full-scaled portion of a real aircraft wing. The experimental model used a full scaled portion of a real aircraft wing, which was also equipped with an aileron. The morphing wing application has been developed during a three years major international research project, involving participants from Canada and Italy. The project, called MDO 505 – “Morphing architectures and related technologies for wing efficiency improvement”, was created to explore, and thus, to evaluate the morphing wing technology. In this project, realized at École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) in Montréal in collaboration with Thales, Bombardier Aerospace, École Polytechnique, the Institute of Aerospace Research - National Research Council of Canada (IAR-NRC), and also with Italian researchers from Frederico II Naples University, CIRA and Alenia, a wing-aileron prototype was designed, tested and validated using wind tunnel tests at IAR-NRC. This international project was developed in continuation of the CRIAQ MDO 7.1 major Canadian project that was also led at ÉTS, and took place in collaboration with Bombardier, Thales, the IAR-NRC, and École Polytechnique. |
