Résumé | A low-profile, circularly polarized (CP) wideband antenna is a desirable component in any satellite communication system which requires high data transfer rate. Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna (MEDA) has emerged as an excellent candidate for such wideband application. However, the dimensions of a typical MEDA antenna restrict its practical use as an element for a rectangular array. Here we propose two techniques to miniaturize the printed MEDA to make it compatible with rectangular array configuration without significantly affecting its overall performance. For the proposed design, axial-ratio (AR) bandwidth and impedance bandwidth overlaps from 25.4 GHz to 31.5 GHz, with miniaturization of about 45% in one of the dimensions. |
