Résumé | Lab-on-a-chip (LOC) devices are gaining significant attentions in fast-response analytical fields due to their demonstrated advantages in portability, sensitivity, sample size, and detection time. In this chapter, we aim to review the most recent developments of LOC in detections. To achieve this, we first review materials that are commonly used to prepare LOC devices and their corresponding methods for LOC device fabrications. This will set the stage for discussions on recent applications of LOC devices in detecting a wide variety of targets, including nucleic acids, proteins, and small molecules. Special attention is focused on device designs to improve detection sensitivity, specificity, and efficiency, key considerations when considering a LOC detection system. At the end of this chapter, we reflect on challenges and future trends in LOC research and development. |
