Résumé | A heated, instrumented leading edge on the National Research Council Canada compact isokinetic probe has been developed to differentiate between liquid and solid in mixed phase icing conditions. The system was tested in an altitude wind tunnel under fully glaciated conditions and with increasing levels of melt. This paper describes the operation and presents test results. The melt ratio from the compact isokinetic probe is compared to a multi-element hot wire probe and a 1 D model for calculating evaporation, particle temperature and melt. |
