Résumé | It is important to understand and to be able to determine the ice pressure on a ship or offshore structure. In such large scale interaction there are many modes for deformation and failure of the ice: creep, crushing, flaking, cracking, splitting and buckling, Blanchet[1]. In these modes, even the local behaviour can be very complex. Besides the general material parameter, the local failure will depend on local strain rate and confining pressure. This note deals with failure criteria operating on the local stress situation. Effect of confining pressure and boundary conditions can be well described by this but strain rate which depend on stress history is still not easy to include. |
