Résumé | Laser-ultrasonics is a non-destructive and non-contact technique that can characterize many microstructural and elastic parameters of materials and is suitable for on-line applications. In this paper, samples of an Al-Mg alloy (AA5754) are annealed at various temperatures (300oC, 325oC and, 350oC) and their recrystallization kinetics is monitored in real time by laser-ultrasound. It is found that longitudinal velocity variations correlate well with the recrystallized fraction, as evaluated by metallography and mechanical testing on samples submitted to similar thermal cycles. |
