| Résumé | It is always difficult to justify the rejection of a doubtful value from a series of measurements. Provided the total number of observations is large, a fluctuation of fairly large magnitude is tolerable in terms of its effect on the average. Objective rejection criteria, past and present, are reviewed and discussed. |
