A high-resolution national database of river widths from remote sensing and cloud-based image processing

Résumé	This study presents the development of a high-resolution national database of river widths in Canada utilizing advanced remote sensing techniques and cloud-based image processing. By integrating Sentinel-2 multispectral satellite imagery, cloud processing, and automated GIS methods, we systematically measured river widths across 9,500,000 km² of diverse Canadian landscapes, offering unprecedented spatial and temporal detail. Using this methodology, a large-scale, accurate database of river widths can be developed for any geographic location for rivers above 20 m in width, with multiple measurements across seasons.
