The technical advances related to genomics and proteomics research have provided the scientific community with large sets of sequence-level genetic information with enormous potential for identification of new drug targets. Gene expression and genome-wide gene sequencing have been successfully accomplished. What is the next step? What will be done with this information? Challenges faced are to identify genes or proteins of interest and to determine the functions of a given gene or protein that we only know at the sequence level at the moment. |
