| Abstract | This paper provides a valuable case record of the measures taken to protect an historic cathedral from damage due to construction of the Vienna underground railway. The report outlines the investigation of the sub-surface conditions and the structural character of the building as a basis for selecting the construction method. The execution of the project is described and its influence on the building was monitored throughout. |
