| Abstract | The purpose of this literature review is to identify the main characteristics of a learner centric approach to the development of e-learning tools. There are few references to learner-centered approaches to distance education (describing the shift from educators disseminating knowledge in a class room to the asynchronous self-directed character of online courses) and in the design literature concerned with user-centered design of information systems. Indeed, the learner-centric concept is yet to be coherently articulated. |
